Needle and seat bad/dirty 3. Carb jets fouled 4. Needle/seat/float getting hung up. 5. Fouled plug Could you post the brand and model # info Or carb brand and model #ATV Only Runs With Throttle (Top 5 causes) Riding an ATV on difficult terrain and balancing the throttle to prevent it from stalling can be quite the challenge. The top 5 most common reasons an ATV only runs with the throttle include: 1 Idle speed needs adjusting 2 Air fuel ratio needs adjusting 3 Dirty pilot jet 4 Petcock faulty 4 Air filter dirtyAnd usually dies shortly after! (78 CB550K, just went through and cleaned out slow jets and reassembled) I am not sure what I am doing wrong! Basically with full throttle and full choke it will start, sometimes, then it will shoot up to about 6000, I let up on the throttle quick, sometimes it dies, a few times I have been able to keep it around 3000 for a bit and it shoots up occassianly. If your motorcycle only runs with the choke on, the air-fuel mixture is too lean. A vacuum leak on the carb body or between the carb and the engine may result in a lean condition causing the bike to only run with the choke on. A dirty pilot jet from old fuel can also cause the bike to die when you switch off the choke. health science advisors Apr 02, 2015 · My Bike Only Starts With Throttle Wide Open. Jul 26, 2007 · The problem I had this weekend is that I tried to start with a fouled spark plug (not known at the time), and when it didn't start after a few, I tried the old tried and true open up the throttle method. Well this time it didn't work. I flooded the hell out of it. So my new feeling is that for a hot start it's ok, but not a cold. When your engine burns all the Sea Foam, it will stop. Reattach the fuel line to the tank and let your bike sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, start it up normally, and see if it will now run without the choke being wide open. You will have to open the choke to get it running again. Clean the Carburetors. Did the Sea Foam work? No? Not surprising. levius manga
